It is shocking to learn that in a state which is proud of its educational and cultural supremacy, the seeds of terrorism have been sown very deeply. We cannot ascribe terrorism to any particular religion. However, we see that terrorism, by whatever way it is defined, is emanating from a particular community. I don't say the community as a whole is anyway responsible for the sudden rise of terror elements within its ranks, but the leaders of that community cannot simply wish away their responsibility.
As an Indian, proud of its cultural, religious and social heritage, I am saddened by this sudden rise of terror elements within my community and brethren. I, like any other Keralaite, despise this development in a peace-loving state like ours. If we analyse the recent terror activities in the state, it is obvious that this is doctored by a few hostile elements that want to divide our nation on the basis of religion by cultivating a sense disharmony among the people.
The recent attack on a college lecture reflects actions of the Taliban. I must say I personally don't support the error committed by that particular lecturer. However, this is not the way one should be punished. It is Talibanism.
For the growth of terrorism within the state, I will held all the major political parties accountable. They supported the growth of these terror outfits, covertly or overtly, to meet their political ends. Causing disharmony among different communities is one of the ways our political parties use to mobilise popular support to achieve their political ends in India. However, they forget to remember that this ultimately leads to divisions and disharmony among the people, and leads to the disintegration of our nation. At least now, the leaders must understand that it is time to put a full stop to such actions.
People of Kerala should see that they will not support a political party or any outfit that causes divisions within different communities in the name of religion or caste. It is dangerous. It is time, as Indians, we despise their actions and work and live for a united India.
