Alleged CWG scandals and PM's silence

It is all over now. The stink of scandal is spreading all over Commonwealth financial deals and transactions. I need not go into the details of the row now as it is all over the various kinds of media. However, what is shocking is the silence of the bigwigs about this whole episode.

The most shocking silence is that of the prime minister. As usual practice (the Prime Minister remains silent whenever an important problem confronting the nation occurs), he remains silent about this scandal also. I wonder if it is the sign of his statesmanship or if he acting under pressure. But as the leader of the nation, it is one of his primary responsibility to talk to the people, at least in the parliament. More importantly, the fingers point toward one of his party mates, Suresh Kalmadi. So, the whole episode is embroiled in deep conspiracy.

Another person who should have answered a few unanswered questions is Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. One of her party leaders is allegedly involved in this scam, and the whole opposition is baying for his blood. But she too adopted a studied silence about the whole issue.

Another one is the person who is supposed to overtake the reins of the nation in the future. Alas! I wonder where our nation goes. He encourages the youth to enter politics and become champions of change. What change does he mean?

It is time the prime minister address the people and answer all the questions surrounding the alleged scam. Being a man of integrity, he should allay to suspicion in the minds of his people. I hope he will do that sooner than later.
